Christopher Buckingham is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion, Advertising and Branding within Winchester School of Art at the University of Southampton.

Christopher holds a Ph.D. in Design (University of Southampton), an MA in Cultural & Arts Management (University of Winchester) and is TEFL certified (Rutgers State University of New Jersey). He is a published author, an international keynote speaker and taught at universities both in the UK and Europe.

Research interests

Christopher’s research interests cover a number of topics in the main subject areas of crowdfunding, learning and serious (educational) games. His current research interests include board games for developing fluency in fashion, branding & advertising; strategic decision making in communication campaigns; and the appeal of luxury in a crowdfunding context. His research cuts across a wide section of industries and he is keen to form cross disciplinary collaborations with national and international colleagues.

Crowdfunding as Methodology

Christopher was at the forefront of crowdfunding as it emerged as a funding model in 2006. He established the crowdfunding consultancy (minivation®) in 2009 and he continues to work with several innovative entrepreneurs helping to nurture their great ideas as business adviser and mentor on the Future Worlds and Inspiring Enterprise programmes within the University of Southampton.

Christopher is Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion, Advertising and Branding on the MA Global Advertising & Branding and Fashion Marketing & Branding programmes.
